The corruption of ‘Television Media’

So here we are once again. Another massive global disaster, another example of the parasitic nature of the so called ‘News’ (I doubt the term applies to them) media is shown. Strip something of all of its ‘value’ and move on to the next quick buck. It is absolutely appalling, and it is reasons such as this that I never bother to watch news programs on television anymore. (The internet is definitely a more reliable source, due to the fact it allows cross-referencing and comparative analysis)

Let me rewind for a moment, some people may be questioning just what the hell I am talking about. Well, as everyone surely knows by now, there have been numerous natural disasters and groundbreaking events in the world of recent. Specifically; Queensland, Australia has suffered through a massive period of flooding (and there has been a loss of lives, homes, businesses and lifestyles), Christchurch in New Zealand was hit with a large earthquake that has killed many and destroyed much of the city and surrounds, and of course the nation of Japan has endured one of the worst natural disasters in its recorded history. Many lives have been ruined or lost entirely by the earthquake AND tsunami that occurred, and now there is an even greater risk to life with the quake and tsunami causing unstable nuclear reactors.

If this all wasn’t enough, there has been mass political and social revolution occurring in Egypt and Libya, the economic climate is changing with all the issues with Japan and there are also new reports of a possible earthquake that may hit New Zealand again sometime in the near future. It is a really troubling time that we are experiencing at the moment. However, there is something that is bothering me as well as the current situation. That brings me to the topic of this blog.

The whole time these events have been occurring, the news has done nothing but mass advertise and sell the events to make as much of a profit as possible. Now, of course it is a good thing that they are actually presenting news for once instead of asking which celebrities’ tits are bigger (although this change hasn’t lasted long), but the way that they are going about it is completely fucked up. Each time a new event has occurred, the media has COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN about the last event that occurred, instead changing all direction to the new event and leaving others whose lives have been ruined without a voice to cry for aid with. The moment the New Zealand quake hit, good bye Queensland. Japan tsunami hits, goodbye Kiwis.

This leeching off events put me off the news even more for a bit, but I decided to check back recently to see if they could redeem themselves and cover all of those events, but then I saw a news presentation on Rebecca ‘Fucking Friday’ Black. Oh so wait, thousands of deaths and major threats to many more lives are less important than a 13 year old girl discovering autotune and reading a calendar for the first time. I’m completely disgusted.

Where did it all go wrong??

Beautiful: Neo-grotesque.

When talking to a girl or a woman, or describing one, there is one term I would almost never use.
Beautiful.
A number of years ago I just might have. But in todays reality of unattainable physical perfection, I refuse to.

Why, you ask?

Well, I believe that the word has become insulting. Synonymous with demeaning. A symbol representative of destroyed lives, minds and bodies for the sake of attaining physical perfection.
Women out there starve themselves. Have flesh carved from bone, muscles and bones disfigured, foreign objects implanted. All for the search for an ''aesthetic perfection''. All for what mass media likes to now name ''Beautiful''.
In the process of becoming ''Beautiful'', many become empty shells, narcissistic and self-obsessed cattle with no hope of making an impact in life. It is not of course their fault, but nonetheless they begin losing valuable shreds of themselves which they will never again be able to ascertain.
It really is incredibly sad.
What I find truly beautiful is a rare thing these days. True beauty lies behind the flesh, behind the bone. It is an intangible thing, really. Someones personality, their identity, their sense of self really attracts me.

I find beauty in things people often don't consider beautiful. So what they may not be physically attractive. What exactly does that have to do with anything?

Actually, expanding upon this, I was talking to one of my friends recently and the subject of my ex-girlfriends was brought up. He actually asked me why I ''dated ugly chicks''.
Rather then smashing his face in with my fist, I asked him why every single girl he had dated thus far whilst being considered ''attractive'' by general society, were false and facade-driven people who cared only for his money and looking pretty. He soon shut up. :)

And thats precisely why I will never call someone ''Beautiful'' . I see them as MORE then that.

Would you like fries with that Damnation?

DISCLAIMER: (It's sad I even need to do one of these.)
I do not purport to be all knowing. I definitely do NOT know what happens to our consciousness when we die. I have a belief in what may occur, based on various evidence and scientific fact, but I will never claim to know something that I cannot myself experience (yet). The following blog is ALL based around my opinion, and does not at any time represent anything else.

Belief. I have had so many people question my beliefs. Or lack there of I should point out. It seems to be happening more and more lately, though I am unsure why. Either way, I don't mind it at all.
When someone comes up to me, and old friend or similar, and asks me what religion I follow, I tell them that I do not follow any spiritual creed, instead associating myself with an Agnostic Atheist-esque lack of belief.
Then come the follow up questions.

Some of these are completely rational inquiries about what lead me to not believe, how I feel about others who hold belief in and almighty power and so on.

And then there are the fuckwits. OK, maybe I should keep this a bit more civil, but when my own so called friends begin near demanding my evidence and proof for the lack of a God, and then informing me that if I do not change I am hellbound, well let's just say it makes it hard to be civil. Which leads me to the main point of this entire blog.

Unless you can provide me undeniable proof of your Gods existence, don't you dare come preaching to me, telling me that I am damned for all eternity, that I will burn with homosexuals, buddhists, hell even other sects of your own damned religion, if I do not change my ways.

Excuse me, but before you preach, know that the burden of proof is on the believer, not the person who disbelieves. EVERYONE (should) knows this, though it just seems as though  that this, along with all other ethical and civil rules get bent and twisted when dealing with someones religious beliefs.
For example, if I were to come to you and tell you "HEY GUESS WHAT, I HAVE SUPER POWERS!", obviously you would ask me to prove it. Now, if I were to respond with either "YOU CAN'T PROVE I DONT", or "DONT QUESTION IT, ITS A MATTER OF FAITH", well then, you'd probably start feeling the same way I do on a regular basis. On top of that, imagine if all your friends were to question why you don't believe they have superpowers, and then ignore your response, well, thats my life for you =3

And I do apologize, but its going to take more proof than thousand year old multi translated and contradictory second hand accounts to sway my opinions :)
SO, let me suggest this, if you do decide to ask me about my opinions, please be open minded as I do try to be, or just don't bother.

Hell, I think the world could do with a lot of that.

Browsing teh Interwebz.

As the title suggests, I was browsing the net earlier today and came across this blog and I realised. I haven't updated this thing in freaking months >< ... My bad.
So, why am I bothering to update now?

In the past few months, I have had a good length of time to postulate on certain things, things that will be mentioned in future blogs. (One that is sure to open a can of worms and possibly piss off others is my religious based one. Should I begin tying the noose myself?)
With all the things I feel I still have to say and explore, I thought it was about time to kickstart the old blog again.

Watch out mother fuckers, im back :)

Censorship of the internet: Protecting the innocent or attacking the last bastion of freedom?

I’m sure to many of you, my opinions soon to follow are already very clear. I do not believe the government or any government for that matter should censor the internet. It is one of the last sources of unbiased truth and freedom of information left in the world, if not the last, with the rest of humanities resources of information being used for propaganda and control. Be it the capitalist conglomerates of the world, or the governments of the western world (who appear to be sliding into fascism once again: Britain is a good example here), our venues of information are no longer safe.
The internet is our only source of freedom left, but we may soon no longer have that. In Australia, Senator Conroy, the minister for information, is attempting to place a nationwide filter on what we can view online. The proposed filter is apparently supposed to be for our youth, protecting them from illegal content such as child pornography and the like. It sure sounds good; however there are many faults here, which will be outlined below.
·
The filter blocks more than just the child porn Senator Conroy has mentioned. A leaked blacklist (link) was released online a couple of years ago, and it contains more than just the content he has mentioned. Also listed are websites like 4chan (!). As can be plainly seen, Mr Conroy seems to be deceiving the general public. Without the power of information that is the Internet, we would never have found out his underhanded tactics. It has since been revealed that even websites advocating or even providing information on subjects such as Euthanasia may be banned as well.

In my opinion, it would only be a matter of time before useful websites such as Wikileaks would be banned, simply because the government disagrees with the views and information that it provides. Internet facism? Totalitarianism? I think so. How long before the internet becomes yet another capitalist propaganda tool, full of biased news reports, one sided views on governments and wars, and policed to prevent anyone having a true say? Not too long if Senator Conroy has his way.

·         It fails to prevent illegal content from being made; in fact it doesn’t even prevent people from viewing it! If the government, and the increasingly mentally deficient looking Senator Conroy, had done any sort of research as to HOW the internet bloody works, they would have realised blocking a few website URLS does near nothing to prevent child pornography and the like from being spread. This, my friends, is due to a little thing called Peer-to-Peer networks. Ever used a program called Limewire? Pretty much that. That is what the serious child pornographers and viewers make use of to spread that filth. And that is something
THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE PROPOSED FILTER. Score 1 for the government, you’re going after the wrong source...AGAIN. Seems to becoming a regular thing these days; Wars, Internet filters, elections...they can’t get it right.

·         Even victims of child abuse are against it! I was initially surprised at this, wouldn’t have thought victims would be against it. But when I heard their opinions on the filter and why it would be a bad thing, I could easily see what they meant and now agree 100%
Basically, their argument was that the filter does nothing to prevent the abuse from happening, does nothing to aid in the prosecution of these criminals. And in fact, aids them by removing it from public eye, pretty much preventing the websites from being reported and acted upon in the first place. Makes sense doesn’t it? Senator Conroy is unintentionally aiding child pornographers! And I thought my respect for him and the government couldn’t go any lower.

I really hope that the ‘proposed’ filter does not go further than it already has. Let’s keep it as a proposition and nothing else please, an idiotic idea that should be given no more credibility by even considering it. However, IF it does go any further, I am more than happy to fight for my rights as an online citizen, for the rights and freedoms of all who use the internet.

Suicide Silence - Unanswered (Fkn love this song.)

How much must I curse your name
And put your beliefs to shame
Before you prove yourself
And end this life?

End this life

And I’ll say a fucking prayer
Because I know it won’t be answered

Where is your god?
Where is your god?
Where is your fucking god?

And even though I don't believe in you
I pray for the day
I pray for the day
That you end this life

So please
Take me
Away

I want the hand of god
To come and strike me down
To come and strike me down

Where is your god?

Where is your god?
Where is your fucking god?

For all the prayers that go unanswered
For all the prayers that go unanswered
Why do you think that is?
For the families that waste their time
Open your eyes

And all your prayers will go
Unanswered
Why do you think that is?
For the families that waste their time
Open your fucking eyes

The Truth Manifesto

It's time for that blog I promised I would write up a few weeks ago. That one? Yeah.

To be perfectly honest, there isn't 1 real specific reason why I changed the name of this blog. A change in musical tastes, preference for a particular title, cooler domain, and plenty more all made a difference. One aspect I can expand upon, however, is that I felt the original title of 'SelfvsSelf' (while being the title of a really awesome song) did not reflect my current condition.

Some may know of past issues, most wont. Long story short, the name Self vs Self was representative of the internal struggle of me, trying to find the balance to restore a sense of purpose in my life. I believe that I have recently attained such a balance, and while it has not brought any comfort or end to struggles, it has helped me analyse and focus myself upon these.
A lot of my life is now more concerned with my relationship with society, and find an equilibrium between my psychological disarray and the unnerving, confronting society around me.

This is where the new blog name 'The Sound of Truth' comes in. It is the name of an old blog of mine, and was my only successful attempt at a blog previously. Its name originates from the song by As I Lay Dying, and the blog was generally an opinion based blog, chucking out my views on current events, religious beliefs and the like. (I liked the name The Sound of Truth especially since it came to symbolise how my opinions ARE my truth, and that the blog was an outlet for my personal truths).
After a while of generally not blogging, I decided to move on...and have now decided to come back.

I will be writing an opinions blog once again, however the catalyst, and hence the context, has changed. Now, I write for myself, write to reconcile my beliefs and inclinations with the doctrine of contemporary society. No longer do I write for others, this is all about me, my Truths.

This is my manifesto.
